Sara Anderson
Hi, I’m Sara—artist, expressive arts therapist, creative spirit, sensitive soul, curious mind, blah blah blah. My journey to this work has been shaped by my experiences as a highly sensitive, neurodivergent woman navigating a world that often feels too fast and too loud. Creativity has been my refuge, my way of making sense of things, and now, it’s the heart of everything I do.
I have over a decade of experience working in the nonprofit sector with both adults and children with disabilities. Also woking at a neurodivergent-affirmative clinic as a play and expressive arts therapist with children. I am a certified expressive arts therapist with additional training in the Hakomi method and the Sacred Gardener School, bringing a deep understanding of somatics, nature-based wisdom, and creative process to my work.
I’m passionate about creating spaces—physical, emotional, and creative—that feel cozy, nurturing, and interesting. I find solace in simple, tactile experiences like crafting, baking, and designing spaces that invite comfort and care. As an abstract, process-based painter, I believe in the power of creativity to express what words cannot.
I’m a deep thinker, constantly questioning the meaning of life, sometimes to the point of overthinking. At times, this leads me into moments of anxiety, depression, and withdrawal. When that happens, I turn to stories or poetry that allow me to dream, imagine, and find grounding in a world that often prioritizes intellect and productivity over presence and feeling.
Laughter is my medicine. I love absurd, silly humor and find joy in the ridiculousness of it all. I also feel deeply—whether through laughter or tears—and sometimes, that means I need time to recharge in solitude. I’ve always been a solitary person, finding strength and clarity in quiet moments.
And of course animals are one of my greatest teachers. My animal companions have shown me so much about love, presence, impermanence, and the beauty of connection.
In my work, I bring all of this with me: the quiet, the playfulness, the deep sensitivity, and the love for simplicity and beauty. I created Scatterhouse Studio as a place for others to embrace their own rhythms, explore their creativity, and connect in a way that feels true to them.
